Florida Arts Job Outlook and Salary

For fine artists seeking a career in Florida, the job outlook is favorable.  Fine artists include the concentrations of crafts, painting, illustrating, and sculpting.  There are more fine artists employed in the state of Florida than any other of the fifty states.  The job growth in this area is expected to be around eight percent over the next ten years.

Most fine artists are self-employed and sell their work at local art festivals, galleries, or out of their own studios.  With its warm, year-round climate, Florida hosts many outdoor art events where artists can sell their work.  Even with the venues for selling their items, fine artists in the state may need to supplement their income with other part-time employment.  For those working full-time on their careers in the state of Florida, salaries will typically range between $32,000 and $62,000 per year. The salary of a fine artist is highly dependent on the state of the economy as most art purchases are made with the disposable income of the client.

Advancement in a career as a fine artist comes through developing good relationships with clients and establishing a reputation for quality work.  Becoming successful as an artist will take time and perseverance. Many fine artists will go into the field of education to further their careers by teaching courses at all levels on their particular artistic specialty.
